Walking In the Desert

My husband and I go walking after dark every night. Tucson respects the night sky so the star gazing is incredible. My eyes are slow to adjust to the dark, and sometimes when an unseen animal makes a noise in the underbrush I get a little shiver. Once my eyes adjust the glow of the night sky casts enough light to walk without a flashlight. Nightly I'm equally thrilled to go out as I am to return.

This painting, finished only yesterday, reflects both the thrill of the unknown and the security of home.
