Bio

Sheree Wood was born 1966 in Ames, Iowa. She lives and works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tucson, Arizona. An intuitive painter, Wood's abstract visual language incorporates magical realism and memory, along with direct observation of the world. Wood grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and has lived in Venezuela, Spain, and Portugal.

She holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Art degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied art, Romance languages and Spanish literature. Additionally she has studied art history at La Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain, and La Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal.

Recently Wood's work was awarded the bronze medal in the Bold Abstracts 2023 International show by Camelback Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Pinacothèque Museum, Luxembourg, awarded Wood the Certificate of Artistic Achievement for the works Málaga, Barcelona, Sonoran Desert, and Scenic Road, her entries in the 2023 Luxembourg Art Prize.
